What is pigmentation?
Your skin gets its colour from a pigment called melanin. Special cells in the skin make melanin. When these cells become damaged or unhealthy, it affects melanin production leaving your skin tone uneven or with age spots.
What is hyperpigmentation?
An uneven skin tone, or hyperpigmentation, is irregular darkening of the skin. The cause: overproduction of melanin, the pigment responsible for skin and hair color. The resulting dark patches and spots are typically perceived as “aged skin” and can make you look older.
What causes pigmentation and hyperpigmentation?
Sun damage, enviromental factors, medications, hormones and skin injuries.
What are age spots?
Age spots are small, flat dark areas on the skin. They vary in size and usually appear on areas exposed to the sun, such as the face, hands, shoulders and arms. Age spots are also called sunspots, liver spots or solar lentigines.
What causes age spots?
UVA sunlight stimulates your pigment cells (melanocytes) to manufacture pigment (melanin) that are not only responsible for a tan, but also for unwanted dark patches.

Pigmentation treatments
Cynosure Alexandrite/Nd:Yag Laser (Pigmentation)
Our Cynosure Alexandrite/Nd:Yag laser (Alexandrite mode) is a fast effective way to treat pigmentation / sun damage.
How does it work?
One fired onto the skin the laser work by clinging to the excess melanocytes on the skin’s surface, causing them to heat and form a crust. The crust will appear darker for around 5 – 14 days and will then disappear, revealing the new, fresh undamaged skin below.
Recovery time
A darker crust will be visible for around 5 – 14 days.
Number of treatments
1 to 2 sessions usually required over a 6 week period.
Aftercare
Heat must be avoided for 48 hours and sun protection of SPF30 or higher must be worn on the treated area at all times.
Skin Peels (Epionce)
Skin peels are a non invasive treatment for all skin types and many skin conditions.
During the treatment a chemical solution is applied to the skin that causes it to exfoliate and eventually peel off. The new, regenerated skin is smoother, brighter, rejuvenated and less congested.
Epionce SAL-E Salicylic Acid skin peel
Salicylic acid belongs to the beta hydroxy acid family of acids. Great for reducing oil and congestion in the skin. When used as a peel, this type of acid is good for those who have pimples and acne.
Epionce Lite Peel: Refresh
Formulated to improve the appearance and texture of the skin by increasing cell turnover, the one-step, Aesthetic-strength Lite Peel relieves skin congestion, dullness, sallowness and improves acne, fine lines and wrinkles with no downtime.
Epionce MAL-E Malic Acid skin peel
Exfoliates dead cells on the outermost layer of the skin and promotes cell turnover, leaving skin brighter and more even, and also helping to keep pores unclogged.
Anyone looking to fade discoloration and/or achieve more radiant skin, as well as those who are acne-prone. It’s also a good skin peel for people with sensitive skin , fines lines and wrinkles and for those whom other acids may be too irritating.
3D LED Therapy
LED (light emitting diode) therapy is a non invasive, safe and effective light based treatment that uses varying wavelengths of red, yellow, green and blue light to improve the health and overall function of the skin.
LED therapy helps to improve various skin conditions such as acne, acne scarring, blackheads, dry, rough or dull skin, Rosacea and fine lines and wrinkles. It also tightens and lifts the skin and reduces damage caused to the skin by environmental factors that result in sun damage and pigmented lesions.

Microdermabrasion
What is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a cosmetic skin exfoliation procedure that uses a mildly abrasive diamond tipped hand piece to lightly buff away dead skin cells, whilst a gentle vacuum suction works to dispose of them. It can be used on the all areas of the face and body and leaves the skin soft, smooth and invigorated.
How does Microdermabrasion work?
Microdermabrasion works by buffing away dead cells from the skin surface, these cells can build up, blocking the pores and leaving the skin looking dull and congested, by buffing the dead cells away it helps to unblock pores and even out skin tone, leaving the skin brighter, clearer, softer and smoother.
This is a gentle treatment that is suitable for all skin types and is particularly good for treating dry skin, blackheads, open pores, pigmentation and fine lines.

Microneedling
What is microneedling?
Microneedling (collagen induction therapy) is a dermal roller procedure that uses small needles to prick the skin.
How does it work?
Microneedling works by encouraging your skin to produce collagen. The tiny pinpricks delivered by the treatment creates the skin’s natural healing response. The skin responds by making new collagen-rich tissue. This new skin tissue is, in turn, more even in tone and texture with an improved and tighter appearance.
Please note that a topical anaesthetic cream will be applied to numb the skin prior to treatment.

Microneedling can be combined with many of our other treatments for enhanced results, including microdermabrasion, LED therapy, dermaplanning, Epionce skin peels and skincare and more.
Microneedling improves fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring, dull or rough skin and enlarged pores.
Recovery time
Mild redness is common post treatment and usually subsides after a few hours or up to a few days. The area may feel hot temporarily.

Use only the recommended skincare products during the course of your treatment and apply liberally to soothe and rehydrate the skin.
